Trump attacks Jill Biden as 'bad wife' over CBS interview where she said she feared Joe was having a stroke during 2024 debate
During an interview with CBS News, which the BBC quoted, Jill Biden recalled being alarmed by the sight of Biden’s condition during the debate.
“I was frightened, because I had never ever seen Joe like that before or since. Never,” she said.
She added, “As I watched it, I thought, ‘Oh my God, he’s having a stroke.’ And it scared me to death.”
Trump’s remarks on Truth Social came shortly after Jill Biden’s interview and her remarks on the presidential debate, which had sparked concerns over Joe Biden’s health and fitness for office in 2024 after he appeared frail and struggled while going up against the US President.
In a Truth Social post early on Friday morning, Trump turned the attack on the former First Lady, accusing her of failing to act when she now claims to have feared a medical emergency unfolding onstage.
“Jill Biden is now out there finally admitting that she did NOT know what went wrong with Sleepy Joe during our spectacular, and highly rated, 2024 Presidential Debate, where Joe was not exactly performing to the highest level of debate standards,” Trump wrote.
“She said that she thought he was having a ‘stroke,’ and various other really bad things, and yet never rushed onto the stage to help her troubled husband, as any good wife would do,” he continued.
Trump went on to suggest that Jill Biden had omitted credit for his own performance that night. “The only thing she failed to mention was how well I was doing prior to his near total collapse. In other words, as many have asked, did my strong performance in that debate cause him to choke?” he wrote.
During the 2024 presidential debate, both Donald Trump and Joe Biden were seeking a second term as President of the United States. According to the BBC, the debate focused on immigration, the economy and abortion rights in the country.
Biden, at the debate, however, appeared visibly unwell, which triggered widespread scrutiny and concern across the country. Questions were raised about his ability to continue fulfilling the responsibilities of the presidency.
Subsequently, just three months ahead of the election, then Vice President Kamala Harris stepped in as the Democratic presidential candidate and secured the party’s nomination for the presidential race.
