In their latest fortnightly review, the government re-introduced the export duty on petrol placing it at ₹1.5 for every litre as it kept the levy on diesel unchanged at ₹24 per litre.

The latter does not include the road and infrastructure cess of ₹1 on every litre. In addition to this, export levy on aviation turbine fuel (ATF) was lowered by 50 paise to ₹19 for every litre.

Ever since the conflict broke out in West Asia earlier this year, the government since March 27 has undertaken a fortnightly review of export levies to ensure domestic availability of the retail fuels by disincentivising exports.

In the immediately preceding review August 15, export duty on petrol was reduced to nil, whilst the export duty on diesel and ATF were lowered to ₹24 for every litre and ₹19.5 for every litre respectively from prior levels.

Excise duty rates on petrol and diesel for domestic consumption remain unchanged.
