Nearly two days after many members of the rival faction of AIADMK MLAs led by former Minister S.P. Velumani buried the hatchet and arrived at a truce with party general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, senior dissident leader C.Ve. Shanmugam, who is yet to make his stand clear, visited his Mailam assembly constituency in Villupuram district on Friday to thank the people for electing him.
“I will discharge my duties with full dedication. I am committed to working for you at all times. As stated during the elections, people could meet me directly without any hesitation and I am always ready to provide every assistance,” he said.
Sources said supporters of Mr. Shanmugam, at a meeting, had urged him to continue working within the AIADMK.
