Several children were initiated into the world of letters on Vijayadasami day at the Sri Lakshmi Hayagriva Temple in Muthialpet here. From morning there was heavy rush of parents along with their children to perform the ritual of writing letters for the first time on the auspicious occasion of Vijayadasami.

Under the guidance of temple priest, parents helped the children write their first letters on platters filled with grains by invoking the goddess of learning, Saraswati. Devotees also thronged several temples to offer prayers on the occasion of Vijayadasami.
