Transport Minister A. Vijay Tamilan Parthiban inspected special buses operated to clear the festive rush at the Salem New Bus Stand on Tuesday (October 20, 2026), following the end of Ayudha pooja holidays.
To clear the rush at the bus stand, special buses to Chennai are operating for two days on Tuesday and Wednesday (October 21) at the Corporation vacant land near the New Bus Stand.
The Minister inspected the bus stand premises along with the officials and interacted with the passengers waiting at the bus stand. He came across elderly persons living on the bus stand premises and instructed officials to enrol them into old age homes. The Minister also inspected the toilets and instructed officials to keep it clean.
The Minister noticed that the fans and chairs installed at the bus stand were missing. He asked for details about the missing items and instructed that the fans at the bus stand be operated.
Later, he went to Manalmedu TMS Bus Stop and interacted with the people there. Some travellers alleged that buses did not pick up passengers at the bus stop, so the Minister stopped the bus and instructed them to pick up passengers at the bus stop.
