Hundreds of tiny tots began their formal education during traditional ‘Vidyarambam’ ceremonies held across schools and temples in the city and district on Saturday.
The ritual, held on Vijayadashami, marks the start of a child’s learning journey. Parents brought their toddlers to various centres to take part in the tradition, where children wrote their first letters with the guidance of elders or teachers. Organisers noted that many families believed starting education on this day brings good fortune to the child’s future studies.
Following the ceremony, parents typically enrol the children in regular classes as they reach school age.
