A fire that broke out in a locked cracker shop on the Tiruthangal-Virudhunagar Road destroyed stocks kept inside the store on Tuesday.
Police said the shop owned by Anbuchelian was locked on Monday night. Some public spotted smoke from the premises and immediately alerted the fire station. On information, fire tenders were rushed to the spot. After about two hours, the fire was put out. As the shop was not opened for the day, there was no loss of lives.
The cause of the fire was not known immediately. The loss of the goods was also being assessed. Tiruthangal police are investigating.
