Saros' Massive Zenith Update Is Available Now on PS5, Free for All Players

Developer Housemarque has just released the Zenith update for Saros, expanding the PS5 shooter with brand new content and features, and it's available now for free.

Weighing in at 3.5 GB, the update brings the game to version 2.0, and it contains various exciting new ways to engage with the roguelite third-person shooter — especially for those that have already completed the campaign.

Overlord Rush is a new boss rush mode. Here, you can take on specific sets of Overlords, or try to tackle all eight of them in a row, and your performance will be measured against other players in online leaderboards.

Then there's Eclipse Layers, Saros' version of New Game+ mode. Within the armour matrix you can find new nodes; these unlock the next Eclipse Layer, with each one making the game more intense by introducing new rules.

You'll need to equip Carcosan Modifiers to access Eclipse Layers, and to help with that, 20 new ones have been added — 10 protections and 10 trials — making the selection more varied.

While playing Eclipse Layers, Arjun will don a crown that grows based on how many trial modifiers you have equipped. This crown is also key to finding a new set of collectibles that unlock more lore to enjoy.

New Trophies have been added based on the Zenith update, too.

On top of all that, the update adds more accessibility options to Saros, including the ability to slow the game speed, toggle high contrast visuals, auto-aim, gyro aiming, and more.

There's a bit more detail over on the PS Blog. Will you be jumping back into Saros to explore the Zenith update? Tell us in the comments section below.

Stephen has been part of the Push Square team for over six years, bringing boundless enthusiasm and a deep knowledge of video games to his role as Assistant Editor. Having grown up playing every PlayStation console to date, he's developed an eclectic taste, with particular passion for indie games, arcade racers, and puzzlers. He's also our go-to guy for Sonic-related matters, much to his delight/chagrin.

One of my favourite games this year. I really wish that it had done better as I want to see more like it from the developers. Indeed, I would love to see a sequel to Saros as the world seemed really cool to me...

Did we know this was coming out today? Is this a shadow drop?

Still need to finish the main game. It didnt grab me as much as returnal did. But still a solid game, will defo return to it when im in the mood.

That trailer was awesome! Loving the soundtrack. And those bosses look very cool! This actually has renewed my interest in the game. This should definitely be marketed better instead of just being shadow dropped like this. Especially those accesability features like Slow motion might sway people who were a bit hesitant about the difficulty

I loved this game, but abandoned it after the first couple of weeks for some reason (maybe Pragmata?). Need to get back into it!

The true GOTY - the release dates of both the game and this update weren't really the best choices but I hope more people will try it!

Just started this and as a bit fan of Returnal, I LOVE IT! The graphics are gorgeous, and I am loving the gameplay and even the story so far (as I heard it was the weakest part!)

Wait, that's the guy that's in almost every Mike Flannigan show. Good stuff.

Lol I started playing this again last night as I haven’t gotten the 2nd/good ending yet

@tameshiyaku that's it! I was watching Carrie and was like where is this dude from I know it's from somewhere but Google just listed his previous TV shows

Just completed this and got the platinum so looking forward to jumping back in.

I loaded this back up on my system today to go grab some shiny new trophies and upon booting it up, I discovered 51 hours worth of save data has somehow been deleted. 😭🤬😭🤬. Guess I have to start alllllll over from scratch if I want to go after these new trophies. Oh well, at least the game is a blast and quite worth the time

@DETfaninATL No cloud save? You might need to download it manually if you reinstalled your game.

Ohhh nice update!, Saros is tied for my fav game of the year along with RE Requiem

Nice! Very good game. Stunning graphics-wise. Feels more linear and less action-packed than Returnal, more story/goals-oriented. Still having a blast with the tight gameplay. Maybe some the weapons are less fun to play with.
