Interestingly, AAA Ola de Calor and NXT Heatwave ran back-to-back from the Bert Ogden Arena in Texas. The NXT show went on second, and this decision was said to be an "eye-opener" for WWE, according to Dave Meltzer.

Meltzer had the following to say about it on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio (WOR):

The main event of Heatwave saw Grayson Waller become the new NXT Champion in a Fatal-Four-Way. Zilla Fatu was one of the names featured in the match. Dave Meltzer added:

While NXT is a homegrown WWE brand, it remains a developmental show trying to find its footing after many recent popular names were called up to the main roster (RAW and SmackDown). On WOR, Dave Meltzer mentioned the crowd mindset heading into Sunday's events, and how WWE's approach could change as a result:

In addition to Grayson Waller's main event victory, NXT Heatwave saw many other title changes. It will be interesting to see what happens the next time WWE goes back-to-back with AAA and NXT events.
