CJP protest LIVE: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has called off the September 5 protest march after "all its demands", including quashing of FIRs against NEET protesters, have been met, the group's founder Abhijeet Dipke said on Tuesday.

Talking to reporters here, Dipke thanked the court and said justice has been dispensed to all those who fought at Jantar Mantar, and to the families of those who died by suicide due to NEET paper leak.

"We have called off the September 5 march as all our demands have been met. We have got absolute justice. The protest became successful today in true means," he said.

“As we know, from July 20 to 25, there were very active protests in Delhi at Jantar Mantar and in many parts of the country relating to reform in education. During the protests, police across states lodged criminal cases against the protesters and the youth,” she told reporters.

“There is now an assurance that was given on July 25 by the Union Government to the Cockroach Janta Party representatives that it will not pursue any of the criminal proceedings and that it will provide compensation,” Grover said.

CJP protest LIVE: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) Chief Spokesperson Saurav Das said the Supreme Court has ordered registration of fresh, separate FIRs in Delhi to investigate around 2,800 people identified by Delhi Police through facial recognition technology as alleged “hardened criminals” present at the protest site.

Das said the CJP had questioned why such individuals were “roaming freely in society” if they had serious criminal records. “If they committed any heinous crimes, such as rape, murder, or other grave offences, at the protest site, then they should be prosecuted, investigated, and imprisoned,” he said. Das also said the issue had now been resolved following the Supreme Court’s order.

On compensation, Das said the government assured the Supreme Court that an “honourable amount” would be paid to the affected families within 90 days. “The funds will be credited directly to the families’ bank accounts,” he said, adding that the court accepted the government’s assurance and incorporated it into its order, giving it “judicial sanctity”.

CJP protest news LIVE: Security has been upped across the New Delhi district ahead of a protest march called by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) from India Gate to the Police Headquarters on Jai Singh Marg, near Jantar Mantar on September 5, PTI news agency reported, citing police sources on Tuesday.

Delhi Police has enhanced security arrangements in and around Jantar Mantar, where additional personnel have been deployed and barricading has been put in place as a precautionary measure ahead of the proposed march, the above-mentioned sources said.

The CJP has announced the march from India Gate to the Police Headquarters. A police source said that no permission has been granted for the proposed march so far.

Through the Delhi Police, the Centre has also proposed registration of one fresh FIR against 2,873 persons who were prima facie reported to have "serious criminal antecedents", with their individual roles to be investigated, HT earlier reported.

CJP's chief spokesperson Saurav Das reaffirmed the party's commitment to stand by the youth, stating that high-level engagements with the government are underway over withdrawal of cases and compensation.

Das welcomed the Centre filing the petition as a major breakthrough resulting from consistent high-level government dialogue following initial assurances given on July 25.

He noted that representative delegations had engaged in discussions regarding compensation and case withdrawals, including multiple meetings conducted at his home in Pondicherry.

"Today we received news that the Delhi Police has filed an application in the Supreme Court stating that they do not wish to pursue the FIRs filed. I believe there are about 13 FIRs in Delhi, which they have mentioned in the application," Das said.
