Parents film reel on beach, ignore child battling waves until stranger rescues her
The video, which has been circulating on X, has sparked criticism over the couple's apparent lack of attention to their young daughter.
The now-viral footage showed the parents walking along the shore, close to the incoming waves, as the woman loosely held the toddler's hands. Within moments, the child slipped out of her grip and fell onto the sand.
The woman briefly turned to look behind her before returning to pose for the camera, while the man continued recording with a selfie stick. As the couple remained focused on filming, the toddler was seen being pushed around by the waves in the background.
A stranger eventually noticed the child and rushed to help. The person took the toddler by the hand and guided her towards her parents, calling out to them to draw their attention to what had happened.
X user Mariyam, who also shared the video on her account, recounted witnessing the incident while visiting the seaside with her husband. In her caption, she alleged that the couple were so absorbed in making a reel that they left their little girl in the water, adding that a passerby had stepped in and rescued her before she could be swept away by the waves.
Questioning the growing obsession with social media content, Mariyam asked whether making reels had become so important that people were beginning to neglect even their own children.

The footage received sharp reactions from social media users, with many criticising the parents for seemingly prioritising their reel over their child's safety.
One user remarked that the obsession with creating content could make people forget about their families and the world around them.
Another suggested that the couple appeared to value the video more than their own child. A third pointed out that while a reel lasts only a few minutes, a child's life cannot be given a second take, adding that it was fortunate someone nearby noticed the toddler and intervened.- Ends
