Kolkata father's gesture for daughter's first move to Bengaluru is too cute to miss

The heartwarming post was shared by X user Simridhi, who uploaded a screenshot of an unexpected Instagram direct message she had received from a man trying to help his daughter find a place to stay in Bengaluru.

The screenshot showed a message from a man identifying himself as Prakash from Kolkata. Introducing himself politely, he wrote, "Hello, myself Prakash from Kolkata. Looking for a single room on rent for my daughter who will be coming to Bangalore for the first time. Can you help?"

Although the two appeared to have no prior connection, the father had seemingly reached out in the hope that even a stranger might be able to help his daughter secure accommodation before she moved to the city.

Sharing the screenshot, Simridhi wrote, "Smash patriarchy all you want. But this is how a father takes care of his daughter."

She clarified that the message had come from "probably a father who is just taking every shot possible to get a place for his daughter in Bangalore."

The post soon caught the attention of social media users, many of whom said the message perfectly captured the quiet concern parents often carry when their children move away from home for the first time.

Several users described the father's effort as incredibly thoughtful, saying it was touching to see him leave no stone unturned in trying to ensure his daughter's safety and comfort in an unfamiliar city.

Others called the exchange wholesome, adding that they could imagine the anxiety parents feel before sending their children to another city to study or work.

Many also remarked that the message made their day, with some saying they wished more people appreciated the countless small, unseen ways parents continue to look out for their children long after they grow up.- EndsPublished By: Yashna TalwarPublished On: Jul 18, 2026 10:41 IST
