In a post on X, Bhandarkar shared his experience of watching the devotional drama in a theatre and praised the team for its storytelling and performances. “Witnessed pure cinematic magic watching #HanumanAnsh in the theatre, the audience was completely glued to the screen! @filmervishal’s direction is wonderfully honest & tender, while actor Shobhinav Satya’s portrayal of Neem Karoli Baba is purely natural and flawless,” he wrote.

The Fashion director went on to highlight the film’s box-office journey, pointing out that it had achieved success without a big star cast or massive budget. “This small-budget film with a non-star cast is a crucial case study for the entire Indian film industry. It proves that true conviction and powerful storytelling always triumph over massive budget films at the box office,” Bhandarkar said.

He also congratulated the entire team, including the producers, actors and technicians, while crediting the audience for turning the film into a “roaring blockbuster”.

Hanuman Ansh had a relatively quiet theatrical release last month but gained momentum through positive word of mouth. The film has now completed 25 days in cinemas and earned around Rs 47 crore domestically.

Written and directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, Hanuman Ansh is based on the life and legacy of Neem Karoli Baba, popularly known as Maharaj-ji. The film follows a grieving boy who seeks God in the hope of connecting with his deceased mother, before discovering a path of devotion and service to humanity.

Hanuman Ansh opened to a modest Rs 10 lakh on its first day at the box office, according to Sacnilk. The film’s collections remained subdued through its first two weeks, with its total earnings reaching just Rs 1.48 crore.
