Christopher Nolan wears Ajrakh tie in New York for The Odyssey premiere
The glamorous event saw Nolan joined by the film’s ensemble cast, with everyone bringing their sartorial best to the red carpet. While the evening was filled with standout fashion moments, it was a subtle style statement from Nolan himself that quietly stole our attention. Christopher Nolan with his wife Emma Thomas. Nolan looked sharp in a classic black suit paired with a crisp white shirt. But the real scene-stealer was his necktie - an elegant Ajrakh piece. The tie was a custom creation in silk by New York-based designer Aahaan Tandon.
Ajrakh is a heritage textile craft from Kutch, Gujara - essentially a special printed cloth made completely by hand. It is known for deep blue and red colours and very detailed, repeating patterns, often on both sides of the fabric. Artisans use wooden blocks and natural colours from plants and minerals, and they print and wash the cloth many times to get this rich look.
