Bhavnagar postal employee dies by suicide; police probe viral video allegations

Before his death, Vishwrajsinh Mayursinh Gohil recorded a nearly 13-minute video that later went viral, alleging that a domestic violence case filed by his wife had led to the harassment of him and his family. His death has left Bhavnagar in mourning.

The incident took place at Konkankada cliff in Harishchandragad, located at the borders of Thane, Pune and Ahilyanagar districts.

“I am planning to end my life by jumping off Maharashtra’s Harishchandragad Fort. What is happening in my life? Nothing good is happening. I have no desire to live anymore,” he said at the beginning of the video.

“When you can no longer see any hope in life, something inside you breaks. We often say that marriage is a sacred bond meant to last for many lifetimes. Such ideals sound good in words, but in modern times, when two people’s views, temperaments and habits clash and conflicts arise, they end up getting divorced,” he added.

He also levelled several allegations against his wife and her family.

Denying allegations that he and his family had assaulted his wife, he said that daily disagreements were being portrayed as physical abuse.

“The complaint alleges that my mother, my brother and I would beat her severely over every little issue. This is entirely fabricated, and the police are not even looking for evidence. The law favours the daughter,” he alleged.

In the video, Gohil also questioned the law on domestic violence, alleging that 90% of cases filed under Section 498A were false and based on words alone, without any evidence.

"Women are capable of everything - lust, greed and anger - so why is the law still tilted in their favour?" he asked.

The couple got married on February 8, 2026. Their marriage came to a tragic end barely eight months later.

A complaint alleging domestic violence was filed with the police on September 12.

After appearing in court on October 9, Vishwrajsinh left his residence.
