Nissan Motor India’s domestic sales surge 147% in August; Tekton exports begin

The automaker recorded total wholesale volumes of 9,350 units during the month, comprising 3,426 units in the domestic market and 5,924 units exported to international markets.

The August performance also marked the beginning of Nissan’s international export programme for the Tekton, with the company dispatching its first batch of more than 1,300 units to South Africa, Bhutan and Nepal.

Nissan said the initial exports represent the first phase of Tekton's international rollout, with the SUV set to progressively enter additional markets across regions. The company is positioning the model as a globally competitive product manufactured in India under its “One Car. One World.” strategy.

Under the strategy, Nissan aims to manufacture vehicles in India to consistent global standards and offer them across both domestic and international markets. The company said the start of Tekton exports further highlights the growing role of its Indian operations within Nissan’s global manufacturing and export network.

The commencement of exports to Nepal and Bhutan also expands Nissan’s presence in neighbouring markets, as the automaker looks to build sustainable scale across both domestic and overseas markets from India.

Commenting on the performance, Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, said the response to the Tekton had been encouraging and contributed to the company’s strong domestic wholesale performance in August.

“At the same time, our export business continues to demonstrate the global competitiveness of vehicles manufactured in India and underlines the strategic importance of our Indian operations within Nissan's global network,” Vatsa said.

He added that as Nissan expands Tekton's presence across domestic and international markets, the company remains focused on product innovation, differentiated customer experiences and sustainable business growth.

Nissan Motor India said it will continue to focus on expanding its product portfolio, improving customer experiences and increasing its international footprint, with India playing a growing role in the company’s global manufacturing and export strategy.
